So this is the first blog I have ever been accomplice to (and co-creator I suppose even though up until now I’ve done very little of the actual work) and to be honest it’s a little unnerving sometimes. To know that everything you type is not only going to be read by everyone you know currently, but also by those who you’ve fallen out of contact with and who are going to look at it and say “WHAT?!?” plus complete strangers isn’t exactly something I’m real keen on (that’s some of my newfound Kiwi slang coming out – Haha). But I think its necessary for me to get over my reservations because up until now I’ve been writing long e-mails to my current friends and family that were in my opinion quite bland. Trying to cram a month or more of adventure and exploring into one e-mail that isn’t tailored to anyone in particular is difficult by definition – and probably comes off sounding like I’m bragging – which was never my intention – it was just the situation I was in – lots of information and little space and time.
So I’ve become what I’ve always made fun of – a blogger (sounds an awful lot like a bugger). But the upshot is that I’ll be able to get all of you who were following the e-mails much closer than before, and those who weren’t can choose to follow if they wish.
To those who are playing catch-up, and haven’t talked to or heard much from me for the past few years, my goal is that my writing will be especially interesting to you as I’m slowly going to re-introduce myself and what I’ve been up to since we last saw each other over the course of the next few months (and perhaps even years – depending on how the aroundtheworldonwheels.com website comes about). I look forward to getting re-acquainted with people from the past.
But whoever you are, there is a lot to look forward to. Ayu, (the waternymph) has a lot planned for this website, and I’m just as ambitious and anxious to start up a small business in New Zealand that focuses on the adventurous spirit and the sense of community that make this one of the best countries in the world.
